In news recently published by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Blue Care Network, the carrier has filed their individual rates for their 2019 medical plans on June 14, 2018.
According to BCBSM, the rates represent the lowest increases submitted since the beginning of the Affordable Care Act.
For Blue Care Network HMO plans, where 9 out of 10 new members enrolled last year, the average increase is a very small 1.1%.
BCBSM PPO plans will increase only slightly more with an average of 4.2%. Some members may experience higher increases if their age band or other rating factors change. The rates are subject to approval by the Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services.
