The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has extend the Marketplace Special Enrollment Period (SEP) through August 15, 2021. The prior end date of the SEP was May 15, 2021 as announced in our "Biden Opens ACA Enrollment For Three Months" Blog post. This extension now allows individuals and families more time to enroll in Marketplace coverage and current enrollees to re-apply in response to the availability of increased tax credits.
Note: This extension applies to plans sold on HealthCare.gov only. States that operate their own Marketplaces can determine if they want to offer a similar SEP.
